One Woman's story of inspiration and love - love of Art, Music and Dance.
A Story of the inspiration and encouragement found in a Dance Studio and in the arms of a Dance Instructor.
A story to make the mature heart young again.
Barbara Elaine Boddy, a medical call-centre supervisor, 62 years young and overweight, needed to lose weight and improve her health. She took up ballroom dancing and started winning ballroom competitions in North America. Thereafter, she received an invitation to the world-famous Blackpool, England dance competition and finally, to the highly-acclaimed ballroom competition in Las Vegas, USA. And yes, she lost about 60 pounds and Barbara's health improved tremendously. Now at 65, she could possibly be the healthiest grandmother of two to dance her way to her dream. A story to inspire dreams into reality.

Hello Barbara,
This is Liliana. We met at 30up last week as I approached you to tell you I have read your book.
I went to see Bobby last Monday and told him I had met you in person.
I was looking at your book again, and I get somehow emotional reading the poem you wrote and some of the pages, because they reflect so much my feelings and what ballroom dance brought to my life.
I started at 55, never tried ballroom before and just 7 months later I am preparing 6 dances for Maple Leaf Classic in November.
Like you, I have been inspired by a teacher whose passion for dance has touched me in a way that made me see this as much more than a hobby.
I always tell my teacher that people have different motivation to dance and to compete.
For me, the prize is not important, but the pleasure of dancing with him, the process of preparation, perfecting the technique, seeing the changes in my body and me in general, getting younger and more energetic, learning to enjoy the journey rather than rushing through it to see end results.
I look forward to seeing you at the Maple Leaf.
Hugs
Liliana

Whether you want to dance, write a book or run a marathon - this story is a poignant reminder that age should not be a limitation and that time is our constant companion. Barbara Boddy's account of her first tentative steps into the world of dance and subsequent successes is amusing, entertaining and profoundly honest. The gowns, the people and the tension-filled competitions come alive in her descriptions. She writes from the soul. A 'must read'!

This review is from: Dance with Me (Paperback)
What a great book and a inspiring story. From the Beautiful Color Picture on the cover to all the beautiful photos inside this was so beautiful to look at. I truly can not imagine going through life just day to day and having taken one step into a dance studio and boy how LIFE CHANGED for this wonderful beautiful lady. This book is not only a great story but it also is so inspirational to anyone who is stuck in life and needs a push to do something they always dreamed to do. Through the authors story she also recognized everything she had accomplished and intends to keep dancing until she can't anymore.. This is a great read and i truly would recommend this to anyone looking for their dream to come true... Be Blessed everyday and enjoy life....
